Philosophy

Our Winemaking Philosophy

With a philosophy based on innovation and the constant search for quality,  but always preserving the values of the region, Jorge Ordóñez & Co. uses old vines of the Muscat Alexandria variety to produce naturally sweet wines with the Denomination of Origin Málaga and a dry Moscatel with the Denomination of Origin Sierras de Málaga.

A Homage to the Past

With its naturally sweet wines, our winery has rediscovered a style of wine made prior to the 17th century, when, with the first exports, the practice of fortifying the wine to preserve it during long sea voyages was introduced. Our unfortified, naturally sweet wines were recognized by the Denomination of Origin Málaga in 1999.

New Challenges

The production of Moscatel Seco is an innovative contribution to the Denomination of Origin Sierras de Málaga, in an area where sweet wines have always been produced from this grape variety. However, without a doubt, the greatest challenge in this winery for Alois Kracher was the creation of Esencia by Jorge Ordóñez & Co. in 2004, with which he charted a new direction in Moscatel winemaking in Málaga. It is the only wine of its type in Spain, and for this reason does not have a Denomination of Origin.
